BUNKER INVESTIGATION AND DETECTION
In every TC voyage, along with the charter hire, another contributing factor that adds to the voyage expense for the charterer is the cost of bunkers
With such high costs involved, it becomes imperative for the Charterers at the time of redelivery to know dthe exact amount of bunkers on board and, in turn, understand the bunkers consumed on the voyage.
The survey, called 221B, commenced initially in Europe ane the USA, and is now gradually picking up in Asia
- To prevent bunker misappropriation
- A professional technical team performs the survey
- The survey is carried out without prejudice and with the correct procedures.
- Vessel’s certified documents are used in the calculations
- Surveyor carries his own equipment
PSMC has its own in-house Master Mariners and Chief Engineers to carry out the survey.
Our surveyors are well versed with the procedures of the survey and, being ex-seafarers themselves, are aware of the various types of techniques the vessel may implement to avoid reporting the excess bunkers on board.
Every tank is checked and the parameters obtained from our investigation are checked with the documentation on board
In comparison to a normal 3rd-party surveyor, our surveyors have yielded results that have been productive tot he Charterers and have been hugely effective in reducing bunker stems.
Our surveys have yielded results of excess bunkers ranging from 05-50MT of IFO.
